Ear piercing infections come from an exterior source, if the earrings were clean before putting them in, it shouldn't be an issue. However, if you are allergic to the earrings, that is a different problem. To treat a piercing infection, I recommend purchasing a saline spray to clean out your piercing 2x-3x a day. Piercing infections rarely stem from the earrings themselves, however, if you want to keep it from closing, I recommend putting in a pair of studs and spraying it with the saline solution to treat the infection. Stud earrings will eliminate movement and tugging to prevent further irritations. However, make sure that the earrings you put in are not brass/copper based and opt for stainless steel, sterling silver, titanium, or solid gold.
